Shoe Trade looks to the Future with Optimism
+ Bustling atmosphere and good order situation
+ Held on other days of the week from 2011

The Düsseldorf Shoe Fairs GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories and GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing – drew to a close on Sunday with great optimism and more than satisfactory results. In total approx. 29,500 trade visitors used the three days of the trade fair to gather information on the 2010/11 Autumn/Winter season and place their orders in Düsseldorf. Prevailing in the exhibition halls was a concentrated working atmosphere. The unanimous mood amongst many exhibitors was that buyers were in very jovial spirits and the talks they held struck a basic positive note that had not been felt for quite some time now reflecting an avid interest in the new fashion details for the next season. So as to gear the shoe-fair duo to changing market conditions the GDS Advisory Board decided to adopt a different sequence of exhibition days on Sunday. From 2011 both trade fairs will be held from Wednesday to Friday.

According to provisional estimates, a total of approx. 28,500 buyers from 82 countries found their way to the three-day events held at the Düsseldorf exhibition centre (11 to 13 September 2009). 6,400 of these also visited GLOBAL SHOES. GLOBAL SHOES back on Course for Growth
GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing is back on course for growth. After the global economic climate put another clear damper on the fair in March exhibitors are now returning to Düsseldorf. Some 380 of them will feature in Hall 8a and 8b of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre from 11 to 13 September. Compared with the previous year’s event this still constitutes a drop of 15% but over the March event an impressive 34% plus. GLOBAL SHOES therefore once again underlines its significance as a leading fair for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and volume suppliers. Joint stand exhibitors from such countries as Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore have opted for Düsseldorf again this season after dipping out of the March event due to the world economic crisis. India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is now also recommending its shoe manufacturers to participate at GLOBAL SHOES again.
